Tomorrow will be a special day

The 12th annual National Puppy Day

By Moristotle

“National Puppy Day,” according to its entry in Wikipedia, “was founded in 2006 by Celebrity Pet & Home Lifestyle Expert and Author, Colleen Paige, who is also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day (among many others).”
In recognition of this fact, of which we were unaware when we ran Roger Owens’s poem yesterday, “Dogs, Boys, and God,” we hasten to point out that dogs were puppies once.
Similarly, the dog celebrated in tomorrow’s piece, “Let us now praise a famous dog,” by Jonathan Price, was a puppy at the beginning of his life.

Thanks to Dr. Price, too, for alerting us about tomorrow’s being a national holiday. The Wikipedia article claims that it’s “actually considered an international holiday now.” Whether that is generally agreed on, or carefully placed hyperbole, we must say we are supportive of the development, and of Ms. Paige’s stated mission to “improve the lives of animals and their people.”
