  1. Just came across this post of yours and had to comment on a seemingly impossible statistical anomaly: Out of your 100 TV shows and movies listed, I have seen exactly one. Yes, one (1). And that was Chariots of Fire, which I saw at a theater 30some years ago. It was a classic and very much worth the time.

As an aside, Eric Liddell, the star Scottish runner known for his devoutness, was a missionary who died in 1945 while interned in a prison camp during the Japanese invasion of China. His wife and children were able to leave the country safely, and he was later offered opportunity to leave during a prisoner swap, but he reportedly gave his place instead to a woman who was pregnant. Apparently he actually was as resolute and honorable as portrayed in the movie.

  2. Motomynd, thanks for the background on Eric Liddell.
I expected something like the statistical anomaly you mention, for the other day you told me that you had gone with (I believe) the teenage members of your family to the first movie you had seen in six years! I remember thinking that you might be amazed to learn that I see probably more than 200 movies a year (fewer now, perhaps, with my growing love of TV program episodes—of programs I highly approve, of course). I sometimes think that I prefer series with characters you grow accustomed to and spend hours with a season to feature films, with their 100 minutes and gone.

  3. 200 movies a year? Approximately eight hours a week? That is about how much time I spend weekly running trails, adding to plot lines with my own cast of characters I have grown accustomed to: the great blue heron that is usually at the point where the little creek flows into the Eno River at the bench where I do pushups at the old Occoneechee Speedway; the friendly white-tail buck and three does I see almost every outing on the Appalachian Trail on the mile-long ascent of Tinker Mountain; the huge black bear sow, probably 350 to 400 pounds, I see once or twice a year where the Appalachian Trail crosses the power line at the beginning of the climb to McAfee Knob.

Movies on the big screen, the small screen, or in the mind - I guess it is just a difference in the choice of medium.
