The bird's a curlew; we've seen some in Mebane, North Carolina as well.
Thanks, Steve. I've added a couple of close-ups. And I'll put up more photos in the coming days, including some taken at the Monterey Aquarium and the San Francisco Academy of Sciences.
A couple of nice shots. I haven't seen seals in ages and the solitary bird looks very good. Hope you post a few more.
