In the second one, I think you look like you have a noble warrior's soul; while in the first, you look like a burglar. (I think it's the cap indoors). Quite a contrast!
My favorite is the second from the top; it has sort of a Jacques Cousteau quality to it. It must be the turtle neck and the night cap taking on the appearance of a toboggan.
I see an uncanny resemblance to Hans Holbein The Younger, but with much more paranoia. If Hans had painted himself while sleep deprived, we'd have a perfect match.
Bettina said, "Chatter! Just a pretty face." She's never one for doilies' straight lace. When it comes to approach, She's above our reproach: "Hurry up here now, let's cut to the chase!"
Bettina's like, "Chatter! It's just a pretty face"; She's never one for doilies' 'n straight lace. Bettina's approach Is sternly to coach: "Enough of all this talk and cut to the chase!"
"Clint Eastwood-esque"—I really like that! Indeed, the last three photos were "acted," in the sense that I was assuming an emotion (or imagining a situation to which I was reacting). That is fun. In fact, I guess, when we're photographed, we're necessarily in some emotion (even if not consciously felt) and some situation, but we don't usually intentionally assume or imagine them.
You are such an imaginative character, Morris! You make me laugh and think…what a good asset you are for this earth. Thank you for sharing the self-portraits.
You’re definitely NOT a nobody! Maybe you’re too much of a somebody? Hmmm, now that’s an interesting question. However you look at it, you’re a character.

ReplyDeleteQuite the look of the Artist!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rachel...I would love to paint you from this photograph...maybe I just will...
ReplyDeleteI see an uncanny resemblance to Hans Holbein The Younger, but with much more paranoia. If Hans had painted himself while sleep deprived, we'd have a perfect match.
ReplyDeleteEmilie, I think I can see the burglar, not sure about the noble warrior (unless he's a bit wild-eyed).
ReplyDeleteIf I were a warrior, I'd sure be wild eyed!
ReplyDeleteSara, I'd love for you to paint me from that (or even the first) photograph.
ReplyDeleteHans Holbein the Younger? I don't think so—although maybe his cap sort of resembles mine.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at Hans Holbein The Younger when he was younger.
ReplyDeleteBe a sport now—give me a link. Here's the way to code it: <a href="http://....">[label for link]</a>.
ReplyDeleteKen, never mind. I found one. You're right!
ReplyDeleteEnough of all this chatter...it's just another pretty face.
ReplyDeleteBettina said, "Chatter! Just a pretty face."
ReplyDeleteShe's never one for doilies' straight lace.
When it comes to approach,
She's above our reproach:
"Hurry up here now, let's cut to the chase!"
That's a correct assessment, Morris.
ReplyDeleteIf rendered in terribly halting verse. I'll work on it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd recognize you from the first portrait.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this verse moves less haltingly:
ReplyDeleteBettina's like, "Chatter! It's just a pretty face";
She's never one for doilies' 'n straight lace.
Bettina's approach
Is sternly to coach:
"Enough of all this talk and cut to the chase!"
Getting much warmer... There's a poster on my office door with a shark on it that says "My Way or the Highway." I wonder why? : )
ReplyDeleteI like the last one the best.
ReplyDeleteAh, that was the one in which I was imagining that I was about to....
ReplyDeleteThe no hat shot looks Clint Eastwood-esque to me. Nice shooting.

My gosh, Lori, may I quote that, to juxtapose with my blog profile's admission that I'm a nobody? <laugh> <warm, fuzzy smile>
