The world has become too disheartening to write about. Every day there is a new fuck-you from the White House. We don’t have time to vent our anger before something worse comes along to be pissed off about. Like whatever happened to all those kids, what’s to be done about Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands?
We have a Mafia Don and his family robbing us blind and a First Lady whose family album includes nude photos with other women, and 35% of the American people think that’s great.
Cops are killing black people in record numbers and no one is willing to say the real reason why: guns. These days there are so many guns on the streets the cops have to assume that everybody they stop is armed. Is it any wonder that every night on the Ten o’Clock News we hear of at least one killing and a number of shootings? With that many people dying on our streets, of course police tensions are high.
Black people are being killed because nine out of ten times the cops are right about there being a gun, but the question is: Why are more black people being shot by cops than white people who also have guns? Racism – something few will talk about because most white people don’t believe they are racist.
The elections coming up in six weeks will determine whether we continue as a Nation or fall into the great dark hole with the other past superpowers. As they speak of what was Rome’s greatness, so they will speak of ours. Corporations own our government, and they do so with the consent of the people.
Our only hope is to start over with a new Constitutional Congress. The wording inserted into our Original Constitution by self-interest groups (slave owners) must be removed. And the new Constitution must declare a woman’s right to have free control over her body and entitlement to equal pay and treatment in the workplace.
The power of the President and the Supreme Court must be further limited; there should be no life-time appointment to anything.
The Electoral College must be abolished. Corporations must be excluded from politics. Elections must be publicly funded.
These are but a few of the changes that I think are needed. We have to do away with laws that harm us and establish laws to protect us from ourselves.
Can this be done? I’m not sure. Once you’ve sold your soul, you’re unlikely to get a second chance. We are now owned by the 1%, and they will not relinquish that ownership easily.
