America’s Froth of July
By Moristotle
Worshippers pump up his act of demigod,
rallying to bump him to an epilogue,
playing their role assigned, his chumps,
repeating loud his smashing thumps,
humping to install him two-term demagogue.
In my heart, I just CANNOT imagine, believe, accept that it could be possible for this horror show to continue as President for one day beyond his one term. The powers of the office have given him so much more latitude to warp reality that an additional term could only be catastrophic, even to the extent of his successfully bullying aside the two-term limit. Not that he hasn't already struck catastrophe all around him.
On this morning’s walk, I noticed my muse playing around with the fifth line: Pumputin’ to prop him two-term demagogue. She (my muse) seems to have coined a new word, although it is best used in the gerund (-ing) form, with the g contracted to reveal the Russian lurking among the subject’s demos.
By the way, does anyone know whether the Justice Department’s forensics experts have yet identified the poison that was sprayed on that thick glass the demigod/demagogue was making up stuff behind on Thursday?
My friend Neil H. commented by email:
ReplyDeleteClever but depressing. Hard to be cheery about America these days. Doggerel is in order. Remember our Founders, their sacrifices and values.
Absolutely!
ReplyDeleteGreat rhythm--great arrangement--scares the hell out me though--another term?--I hope not, but just in case, thank God for two term limits.
