The photo shown in the NY Times article “Creations That Capture Our Imaginations” of the 1000-year old Chand Baori stepwell in Rajastan, India could be used to exemplify the well of knowledge in a text.
What else might it be a metaphor for?
Or, in the next excerpted image, of Interstate 5 and adjoining roads in Tustin, California, 1982, how might we label it metaphorically?
“California circles of life”? “California square-dance”? What else comes to mind?
