Easter Uprising

Spread the Word
A Parable

By Moristotle

God the Father’s people thank Him for resurrection.
His Son had been assailed with “Flog him!”
“Crown him with those thorns!” “Crucify him!”
“Nail his hands and feet!” “Mortify him!”
God‘s people kneel and worship Him for Jesus’ restoration.

Trump’s proud people stand by, they demand his restoration.
They’re very special people; he needs them.
They rally and smash her office; he loves them.
They storm the Capitol. “Get heavy!” “Trash them!”
“Make America great again.” They bring the pain of insurrection.

  1. Duly noted that in his version of martyrdom, Trump's followers pay the price, not Trump.

    1. motomynd, I just read your comment again, after responding to Michael’s. You too draw out the point he makes. Do you think the two stanzas support that adequately, or might a third stanza be needed?

  2. Yes, the followers of Trump, unlike the followers of Jesus, are now jailed, preparing for jail, and facing a skew of consequences. Jesus came out unscathed in my way of thinking and his followers were able to rejoice. Trump's followers will face their cruscification without Trump's support at all--remember Jesus thought beyond himself; Trump only thinks of himself.

    1. Michael, I like your interpretation, which leads me to think the poem needs a third stanza to explicate the distinction between Jesus and Trump, because the second stanza requires readers to be familiar with current events.
