“A Quiet Place” (detail) |

After laying off painting for a couple of months following the holidays, Shirley is back, and finds herself in a quiet place.
Looking at Shirley’s latest painting, I can’t help being reminded of Monet’s garden at Giverny.

Just what we (and so much of the world) need right now: for Shirley to come back and grace us with a tranquility we sometimes forget, in these turbulent times, is even still possible.
ReplyDeleteNot many of those places left around here. When I lived in Washington State they were everywhere. Beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you gentlemen for your kind words. I have always felt that "a quiet place" is something we need to seek daily. Not necessarily a physical spot to go to, but an imaginary or recalling one also. My words, not Shirley's.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful. Shirley knows how to reach the heart
ReplyDeleteViola, what a wonderful thing to say. Thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteShirley I don't know that place in my life but thanks for the introduction! Beautiful! Now for a hammock and a glass of wine.
ReplyDeleteI experienced such a place last evening, as my wife & I drove through country roads of Orange County, the lowering light of day bringing out the peaceful spirits of seasonally awakening trees along the roads and across the fields and yards. Luxurious!
ReplyDeleteSo Beautiful and Peaceful. We do all need a quiet place we can call our own, and just relax and refuel. Makes me want to go down to Reelfoot Lake and walk on the boardwalk.
ReplyDeleteWow! This painting certainly has tickled a soft spot for so many. Thank you all for your much loved inner journey's and feedback. If you don't remember "a place"- imagine one. Shirley's 'A Quiet Place' was imagined too. Randy, I DO like you adding the hammock and wine!
