Daring the Sun to Disinfect Them

By Marc D’avegan Rubin

Down the slippery slope
little man by little man,

pinch by pinch, down
past the bottom of the bottomless

dark pit of the past.
Out of the shrieking stretched

mouths of man-children in black
and blue big man suits

blood-red state ties corrupted
through by shiny platinum pins,

the order is barked
from the false pulpit of bank fraud,

and tax fraud, and wire fraud,
fraudulent charity, fraudulent school,

fraudulent hair, tanning fraud,
mental health fraud, leadership fraud,

and every other form of fraud
that has ever been codified, written, or spoken,

for our official last words. With a firm kick,
we are shot

down the hole
to the infinite list;

the endless line still forming
to your endless pit.

Telling the doomed of pathetic hoards
How everything is better than it ever was

Thanks to the hole you dug for us
The pit you dug so deep.

  2. If only the little man addressed by “your endless list” might now be shackled to a stone wall and forced to listen to this, sung with loud amplification and accompanied by wailing electric guitars and drums, over and over and over.....Thank you, Marc.

  3. and then you ordered the tractors,
    the dirt gatherers,

    buried us into darkness
    buried us into Covid 19

    lie after lie after lie--
to think how many still believe him.
